Guided tour of Ivy Hill Cemetery: Tour the privately owned historic cemetery established in 1886. Grave markers are from the mid-19th century to present day. Join local historian Kathy Mountjoy for a free guided walking tour of this historic treasure, offered the second Saturday of each month through November, weather permitting. Yoga at Windsor Castle Park: This is an all-level group yoga class to benefit the “Warriors at Ease” charity. Held the second Saturday of each month, April through Sept., from 9 to 10 a.m. at 301 Jericho Road, near the kayak launch in downtown Smithfield. $10 per person. Bring your own mat. Paint Big or Go Home: From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Barbara Lively Mastaglio will present this workshop for students ages 16 and up of all skill levels. Attend this workshop and find out why bigger is better. Create a colossal original, abstract painting using a variety of tools, all in a three-hour class. Make it and take it home. The fee is $45 members/$55 non-members plus materials fee of $38, which covers canvas, paint and the use of all tools provided by instructor. Citizens’ Association and Civic League meeting: The Isle of Wight Citizens’ Association and the Carrollton Civic League will meet together at 7 p.m, in the community room of Sentara St. Luke’s medical center, 20209 Sentara Way, Carrollton. This is a special pot luck dinner meeting so all attendees are requested to bring a meal entree of their choice to share with all. Mahone’s Tavern and Museum: The historic building will be open from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Mahone’s Tavern has witnessed and been a part of much of the history of Southampton County, Virginia. Built on one of the original lots of Jerusalem in 1796, it is possibly the oldest house in present-day Courtland and is one of the oldest houses in Southampton County. Come visit the boyhood home of William Mahone and the museum it has now become. Located at 22341 Main St., the tavern is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Flavors of Isle of Wight: Starting at 6 p.m. in the Smithfield Center, come sample signature foods, wines and beers. Tickets are $25 per person and proceeds benefit education programs for youth awarded through the Isle of Wight Community Foundation. JuliARTe Summer Camp: This will take place from 9 a.m. to noon through Friday, June 22. All materials included for daily art projects including painting, fiber art and jewelry with instruction by resident artist Juliette Marshall. Annual opioid epidemic symposium: Every day, more than 115 people in the United States die after overdosing on opioids. Please join the PDCCC’s nursing class of 2019 for a viewing of the documentary Chasing the Dragon and a panel of speakers who have firsthand experience with the current opioid crisis. This symposium will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Workforce Development Center, Franklin. Refreshments will be provided.

Live music: The community is invited to join Sgt. Jayton D. Patterson, USMC, VFW Post 4411for a live music event at 3385 Beaverdam Road, Franklin, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Charles Butler Hall. The featured band will be Otto Shelor and the Country Ravens, who will entertain at no charge; however, tips will be welcomed. Doors open at 6 p.m. There will be food and beverages available for purchase. This is a rain-or-shine event.

Treasures & Trades Show: The Carrsville Ruritan Club will host this in the community center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents are wanted to share their homemade crafts and goodies, or who are wanting to clean out their attics and share/sell their treasures. Vendors will include Origami Owl, Pampered Chef, Lula Roe, Thirty-One, Paparazzi and Scentsy. Estate and antique items also for sale.
