A protest calling for an end to racism is scheduled to take place in Windsor on Saturday, June 6. This is according to information provided by Windsor Police Chief Rodney Riddle.

“The Windsor Police Department has been in contact with and working with the youth protest organizer to ensure a safe and peaceful event,” Riddle stated.

He added that the event will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. be in the lot adjacent to the Windsor Police Department at the intersection of Windsor Boulevard and Shirley Drive.

“We anticipate a peaceful and productive protest,” the chief continued. “The Windsor Police Department recognizes the rights of our citizens to exercise their First Amendment rights and supports the right to peaceful protest and demonstrations.

“The Windsor Police Department has reached out to our local law enforcement partners for additional support to ensure the safety and security of the community. We would like to thank the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, Smithfield Police Department and the Franklin Police Department for their assistance with this event.”
