ISLE OF WIGHT

Isle of Wight County’s School Board will have a public hearing on Thursday, July 12, at 6 p.m. in the Robert C. Claud Board Room at the Isle of Wight County Courthouse, 17130 Monument Circle, Isle of Wight.

The purpose is to receive input on the school division’s long-range facility plan. A previous hearing on the matter had been in Smithfield High School. The plan includes proposed renovations to Hardy and Westside elementary schools, beginning sometime within the next two years.

The proposed renovations and restructuring of grades housed at each school are intended to address the nearly 900 new students expected to enter the county’s school system over the next 12 to 13 years from the buildout of current and proposed housing developments.
