The town of Windsor is seeking qualified voters living within the town who would be interested in serving on the Windsor Town Council in the wake of J. Randy Carr’s resignation due to relocation.
“His position on council is open,” Windsor Mayor George Stubbs said, “and that’s what we are soliciting (talent) bank forms for — someone that can be possibly appointed to fulfill his position on council.”
Stubbs indicated that the position of vice mayor, which Carr also held, will be appointed by the seated council members at the council’s Tuesday, July 8, meeting.
A Tuesday, July 1, town news release stated that in response to Carr’s council seat vacancy, “the Windsor Town Council is inviting qualified voters in the town of Windsor who are interested in being appointed to fill this vacancy to provide a cover letter and resumé.”
Cover letters and resumés can be hand-delivered or mailed to the Town of Windsor, 8 E. Windsor Boulevard, P.O. Box 307, Windsor, VA 23487 or emailed to wsaunders@windsor-va.gov, the release noted. For consideration, submissions must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 18.
The release stated that a council member vacancy shall be filled by appointment within 45 days of the vacancy, according to the town charter. Carr’s resignation was effective Monday, June 30.
