Windsor Baptist Church (WBC) will be sponsoring a music event Sunday afternoon, June 29, that the town of Windsor will be supporting by allowing use of the Wesley F. Garris Event Park.

Windsor Mayor George Stubbs highlighted the event during the June 10 Town Council meeting after the town manager mentioned the calendar of events for June and July.

“I’m going to add one thing to the June calendar,” Stubbs said.

He noted that on June 29, Windsor Baptist will be sponsoring an afternoon gathering featuring the Wakefield-based Streets of Gold Quartet, which will be singing from 2-4 p.m. at the park.

“Then from 4-5 (p.m.) there will also be a bluegrass band that is basically Christian music that will be performing at Garris Park,” Stubbs said.

He added that in the event of inclement weather or high humidity, the church plans to move the event indoors at its facility.

Stubbs indicated in a Thursday, June 19, interview that the town’s effort to support the WBC’s music event is born out of gratitude to the church for its support of nearby town events.

“Anytime that we have events at Garris Park, one of the things that Windsor Baptist Church has always been more than willing to support us in is using their parking area,” he said. “They support us, we support them.”

To conclude his comments made during the June 10 council meeting, Stubbs said, “So anyone you know, neighbors, families, tell them to come on out Sunday afternoon (on June 29). It sounds like it’s going to be a very entertaining day.”

Garris Event Park is located at 18 Duke St. in Windsor, and the WBC is located at 4 Church St.
