Fifteen-year-old Gabi Wynn, of Coastal Point Gymnastics in Windsor, has distinguished herself as a gymnast across a six-state region, qualifying to be part of a team representing that region at the 2025 Women’s Development Program Level 9 Eastern Championships in Battle Creek, Michigan, from May 1-4.

Coastal Point Gymnastics and Sports Centre in Windsor is co-owned by mother-son duo Debby Burgsteiner and Kyle Burgsteiner, and they also serve as head coaches of the Coastal Point Gymnastics Developmental Team, which includes Wynn.

Kyle explained what Wynn had to do to be part of the Region 7 team that is going to compete at the L9 Eastern Championships.

“You have to qualify for your state championships, and then you have to get a qualifying score to make it to the regional championships, and at regionals you have to get the top seven athletes’ all-around score to be able to be on the Region 7 team,” he said.

At the Level 9 Regional Championships held April 10-13 in Virginia Beach, Wynn produced an all-around score that placed seventh in a field of 23 athletes. Contributing to her all-around score were her performances in the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.

She earned the bronze medal in the vault and placed fourth in the uneven bars and floor exercise at regionals.

Kyle Burgsteiner noted that Wynn has been participating in gymnastics since she was 6 years old.

“She started in a gym in Suffolk, and then they ended their competitive program, so she moved over here to Windsor about two years ago,” he said.

In identifying Wynn’s primary strengths as a gymnast, Burgsteiner highlighted her positive personality and her love for and ability in the uneven parallel bars event.

“Most kids dread bars because they’re very hard, and she excels a lot at bars,” he said.

This will be Wynn’s first time competing at the L9 Eastern Championships.

“We just all want to wish her good luck, and she hopes she can represent Region 7 and our gym very well,” Burgsteiner said. “We will be able to travel with her, and every gym’s individual coaches coach their athletes at Easterns.”

Region 7 includes Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
