Windsor-based Girl Scout Troop 726 of Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast has been having a busy spring full of community service. The middle- and high school-aged scouts prepared 36 birthday cake kits for three local food banks: Healing Waters Food Bank, the Isle of Wight Christian Outreach Program and the Woman’s Club of Windsor Food Pantry, in celebration of National Girl Scout Day on March 12, commemorating the founding of the Girl Scout organization.

The troop met the call of Smithfield Police Department when their snack stash was running low. The Girl Scouts were rewarded with hungry customers ready to make a purchase. The troop is now making plans to donate their “Gift of Caring” cookies, purchased by customers that go toward a troop’s special service cause, to patrons of Healing Waters Food Bank, Isle of Wight Christian Outreach, and The Woman’s Club of Windsor Food Pantry.
