Windsor distinguishes itself at recent meet

Three first-place finishes and 12 total top-five placements were individual highlights created by members of Windsor High School’s varsity boys and girls outdoor track and field teams at the eight-school March 27 meet hosted by Franklin High School.
As teams, the Windsor boys placed fifth at the meet and the Windsor girls placed seventh overall.
Dukes junior Jeremiah Newby shined in field events, winning the boys discus throw with a 104-foot-1-inch throw and also winning the boys shot put with a 34-4 throw.
Senior Nicolas Stephens placed second in the discus throw with a 100-5 result and fourth in the shot put with a 32-9 throw.
Senior Caden Pierce won the boys 3,200-meter run with a time of 14:09.45.
Lady Dukes junior Mila Jacobsen finished second in the girls 800-meter run with a time of 3:04.71, and sophomore Nira Butler placed second in the girls discus throw with a 73-11 throw.
Contributing, along with Pierce, to a strong showing from Windsor in the boys 3,200-meter run were junior Ethan Brinkley, who placed third with a time of 14:14.50, and freshman Jackson Edmunds, who placed fourth with a time of 14:38.20.
Giving Windsor two finishers in the top-five of the boys 1,600-meter run were Pierce, finishing with a 5:37.78 time that was good for fourth, and Brinkley, who finished with a 5:39.16 time that was good for fifth.
In the girls 100-meter dash, sophomore Divinity Robinson earned fifth by finishing the event in 13.97 seconds.
