Fifteen members of the Woman’s Club of Windsor, and one granddaughter, met on Saturday morning, Nov. 30, in the garage of Margaret Aston to carry out a relief project for those impacted by Hurricane Helene.
A club news release noted that Aston is chair of the Health and Wellness Community Service Program, and in her garage, club members helped fill 20 plastic five-gallon buckets with cleaning supplies, batteries, flashlights and brushes, and numerous plastic tote containers were filled with new clothing, blankets, hats, gloves and personal care items. Children’s backpacks were filled with school supplies.
All of these supplies, as well as gift cards, shovels, gloves, tarps, heaters and heavy duty trash bags will be taken to residents in the western part of Virginia who sustained flood damage during Hurricane Helene.
The club purchased $1,250 in supplies, and more than $750 was donated by club members and members of the Windsor community. These supplies will be taken to the affected area within the next two weeks.
The Woman’s Club of Windsor is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC), GFWC Virginia and Southside District.
