A two-month collection effort by local Masons reached its culmination recently when Windsor Masonic Purdie Lodge No. 170 delivered more than 100 coats, sweaters, scarfs and gloves to Windsor-based Community Harvest Outreach Inc.

A lodge news release noted that CHO Chairperson Laequinla Hunter and Co-Chairperson Ernest Hunter accepted the donations, and Hunter said they would start distributing the items Feb. 7.

Patrick H. Suttle, the Worshipful Master of Purdie 170 in Windsor, was happy that the lodge members’ efforts were helping people local to Windsor. He added that the lodges’ planned future events will help even more locals.

Suttle also stated that he would like to coordinate with CHO on other projects for the Windsor community.

Upcoming Purdie 170 Masonic Lodge events include the following:

  • March 16 — assisting at the Tucker Swamp Food Bank
  • April 20 — 4-7 p.m. Catfish Fry, with ticket fees supporting Purdie lodges’ scholarship fund for college-bound seniors. (Tickets can be bought from any Purdie Lodge member.)
  • May 13 — Blood Drive, teaming with the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department at Windsor Town Center and starting at 1 p.m. (Register for an appointment on the Red Cross blood services page.)

More events are planned for later in the year.

Community Harvest Outreach supports local youth programs, a food and clothing distribution for those in need, school supply and scholarship programs as well as the annual Lots of Toys for Tots event.
