Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

To the Editor:

I had someone ask me, “Are y’all still doing Relay for Life?” Well, yes,we are!

We haven’t had an event since 2019 due to the COVID pandemic and/or weather. There have been many changes in the way charitable organizations are managed, how people want to volunteer their time, and how they donate their hard-earned money. But, it’s time we gathered at the track again!

The reasons we Relay will never change. We want to see a world without cancer, less invasive treatments and even earlier diagnoses. Research for cancer cures and treatments take years and so much money. These areas need the funds that Relayers raise to fight back and to feel like we’re making a difference with our efforts.

Online registration and online donations may be made at www.RelayForLife.org/IWVA. You may also register by calling 1-800-227-2345 (Relay For Life of Isle of Wight). For more information, call or text me at 757-810-5207 or email Pam78@aol.com.

Relay For Life of Isle of Wight (Suffolk will also be represented) will be held at Luter Sports Complex in Smithfield on Saturday, May 20. Opening ceremony followed by the Cancer Survivor Lap is at 6 p.m., and Luminaria Ceremony is at 9 p.m.

I’ll see you at the track as we CELEBRATE, REMEMBER, AND FIGHT BACK!
