Courthouse Highway reopened to traffic mid-afternoon Tuesday after an overturned dump truck blocked both lanes for several hours.

The crash scene was turned over to the Virginia Department of Transportation and State Police.

VDOT’s 511 Virginia website was still reporting the closure as of 1:50 p.m., nearly two hours after Isle of Wight County’s IW Alert message system warned of a then-unspecified “incident” just before noon, roughly one mile south of Courthouse Highway’s intersection with Route 620. The 511 listing had gone away by 3:25 p.m. and by 4:32 p.m. a new county alert announced the road had reopened.

State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya said no injuries resulted from the crash.
