It may have taken a little while, but we’re happy to see that Norfolk Southern has responded to citizen concerns and is taking action.

Over the past year or so, numerous complaints have been made regarding the state of a railroad crossing near the Dairy Queen in Windsor. Town Manager William Saunders confirmed that the town had received quite a number of complaints and forwarded them to the railroad, and we have to imagine that some folks may have called the railroad directly, as well.

For one local woman, it was so bad that she would cross into the opposing lane if there was no traffic coming, just to avoid the worst spot on the side heading out of town. You can read more about her thoughts in the story by reporter Titus Mohler that begins on the front page.

Reached this week, a spokesman with Norfolk Southern said the railroad is aware and has scheduled a repair. This repair may happen in February or March, which is relatively quickly for a large corporation.

We appreciate Norfolk Southern for taking action on this request.
