The continuing rise in COVID-19 cases locally and nationwide resulted in the cancellation of this year’s State of the County.
The annual Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce event, which is typically a breakfast with remarks by local and state officials, was scheduled for Sept. 23 as a lunch at The Smithfield Center, but now will move to a virtual format in October, according to the Chamber’s website.
A specific date in October hasn’t been set yet, nor has the chamber released instructions on how to participate virtually. All registrations for the in-person event will be refunded, the website states.
