Earlier this week, Gov. Ralph Northam announced sweeping measures to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, to include a ban on any gathering of more than 10 people. According to Lynn Briggs, spokeswoman for the school division, parents and students are to adhere to social distancing – meaning they should watch from their door or front yard, and not congregate. The teachers will also each be in their own cars in a line of slow-moving traffic.
The event flyer further specifies that attendees should respect the six-foot minimum distance for social distancing, warning, “Safety is a must! We know our Hornets are full of excitement. Please ensure they remain a safe distance from the vehicle parade. Respect local traffic laws and ensure you are u sing sidewalks, not roadways to stand and cheer on the tour. Please do not approach the vehicle tour.”
