WINDSOR
A Wakefield man died on the afternoon of Feb. 25 as the result of a collision with a tractor trailer in Windsor, according to information provided by Sgt. Michele Anaya, spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police.
She stated that at approximately 2:11 p.m., the VSP were called to investigate the accident at Route 460, west of Route 646 in the town.
A 2017 International tractor-trailer was blocking the roadway while attempting to back up into a residential driveway on Route 460. The driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, Rufus Murry Wilson, was traveling eastbound on Route 460 and struck a side of the vehicle.
Wilson, 95, died on impact. The family had been notified.
Neither alcohol nor speed was a contributing factor, said Anaya.
She added that the case is under review by the Commonwealth Attorney of Isle of Wight County, and that no charges are placed at this time.
