SMITHFIELD
Nine first responders in the Isle of Wight County were recognized on Feb. 4 during a ceremony in the Smithfield American Legion. The American Legion Certificates of Commendation were presented by their supervisors to police, fire and emergency response personnel.
Over 40 attendees enjoyed dinner and the opportunity to meet the awardees in attendance.
The following individuals were selected by their parent organization for this award: Bryan Edwards, Virginia State Police; Ryan Polk, Smithfield Police; Chad Beale, Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office; Robert Swan, Windsor Police; Daniel Vineyard, Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department; Jeffery Elmore and Molly Harrison, Isle of Wight Emergency Services; Johnathan Paiz, Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department; and Timothy Morrison, Isle of Wight Rescue Squad.
