Local National Night Out scheduled

WINDSOR

The annual observance of National Night Out will take place in Windsor from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, in the Windsor Town Center, 23361 Courthouse Highway.

This is the popular get-together for neighbors to connect and bond with each other as well as members of the police and volunteer fire departments. People can also learn how to help fight crime by taking preventative measures, such as looking out for other each other and better securing personal property.

In addition, Windsor Police Chief R.D. Riddle said the department will provide hot dogs, snacks, drinks and activities for children. If the weather cooperates, the youngsters can sit in the police and fire department vehicles. Inside, a bounce house will be set up in the gym.

At the same time and place, the Woman’s Club of Windsor will sponsor a Back-to-School Drive. In exchange for a cool treat, people attending the event are asked to bring a donation of any of the following items: Pencils, pens, dry erase markers, highlighters, crayons, notebooks, tissues, index cards, composition books, loose-leaf paper, glue sticks and hand sanitizer.
