Community Electric Cooperative announced that it has named Mitchell Simmons to serve as its new Manager of Information Technology. Simmons, who previously served in a support role at Randstad Technologies, brings a breadth of expertise in technology, product innovation, and robust operations experience to Community Electric Cooperative. He will be responsible for leading CEC’s information technology strategy and development. Simmons will also work closely with the company’s product, data, and analytics teams to drive technology and speed into product and data insights delivery to customers and partners.

“We are excited to welcome Mitch to our senior leadership team as we continue to invest heavily in data security and enhance our information technology infrastructure,” said Steve Harmon, chief executive officer and President at CEC. “Mitch has great technical and cloud skills, and strong performance within the industry, and a creative problem solver. He is a great addition to our future success as we advance our technology capabilities; and enhance data security and the speed, simplicity, and reliability of our services. We are thrilled to have a leader of Mitch’s caliber joining CEC.”

During his time at Randstad, Simmons provided complex technical and service support to a multifaceted regional health system client at Riverside Regional Medical Center. It was there that Simmons provided significant support to a technical migration and deployment of a new operating system. He has honed his configuration, installation, and software skills with several other enterprises, including a business of his own where he built a new computer system of his own. His customer service skills and ability to guide end users through training on variations in operating platforms have established him as a leader in the technology field, as well as on independent networks.

Simmons holds bachelor’s degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from California State University East Bay, and is certified in Microsoft A+, Linux Support and Microsoft Office Suite. He and his family reside in Newport News, with plans to relocate to Windsor.

Community Electric Cooperative, headquartered in Windsor, is a not-for-profit member-owned energy provider that serves over 11,000 homes, farms and businesses in the counties of Isle of Wight, Southampton, Surry, and Sussex and the City of Suffolk. For more information, go to www.comelec.coop.
