AARP Virginia is pleased to announce that this year’s winner of the Elvira B. Shaw Advocacy Award is Lorraine Bratton.

Bratton was recognized at an awards banquet on Nov. 7 during the AARP Virginia All-Volunteer Assembly in Charlottesville.

The Elvira B. Shaw Advocacy Award is presented in honor and memory of Elvira Beville Shaw to an individual or team of volunteers that display exceptional advocacy on behalf of AARP Virginia.

Bratton has continuously volunteered through AARP and other organizations to implement a positive change in her community. During 16 years with the AARPAdvocacy Team she has worked on many AARP issues including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and the ACA. She has constantly gone above and beyond what is expected of her for the betterment of people age 50 and older.

Bratton’s commitment to high standards and integrity while advocating on criticalAARP issues has shown her complete dedication to the betterment of the 50+ population and her community.
