Last Saturday was a milestone for Windsor and surrounding neighborhoods. That morning, Mayor Carita Richardson welcomed guests to the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new Windsor Town Center.

After several years of planning, writing grants and seeking other money, enduring obstacles and setbacks, the former middle school gymnasium has found a new life that we trust will serve residents for decades to come. Someone else will have to worry about renovations in another 60-plus decades from now.

As the mayor noted, there were a lot of people and organizations to thank, and time and space don’t permit a complete list here. But it is the mayor and other the council members who should at least be commended for their work in making this place a reality.

As with all who have invested time, money and even sweat equity can agree, we look forward to seeing the town center used frequently for civic and social events ranging from events such as the Woman’s Club of Windsor craft shows to wedding receptions.

This is another step in making Windsor an even more attractive place to live and grow.
