WINDSOR

The grand opening for the Windsor Town Center has been rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 3 at 9 a.m. It will coincide with Windsor’s Woman’s Club Craft Fair, which will be the first public event held in the facility.

The grand opening had been previously scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13. According to Town Manager Michael Stallings, delays in getting Dominion Energy to provide power to the building were the main reason for the postponement.

The building, which had previously been the Windsor Middle School gymnasium before Georgie D. Tyler Middle School was built, will include a reception and lobby area, a meeting room, a large catering kitchen and a gymnasium, which can also be used to host events. The original floor plan for the center also specified an art and youth activity room, but this, along with one of two built-in art display cases in the lobby, were removed from the final set of plans to save on costs.

The renovations, which were contracted to the firm A.R. Chesson Construction Inc. in March with an agreed-upon cost of $1.287 million, remain on budget.
