The Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department recently dedicated its newest ambulance, Medic 10.

The dedication included a traditional firefighter “push-in” ceremony, which recalls the days when horse-drawn equipment had to be pushed back into the engine bay by firemen after the horses had been unbridled.

While pushing in the new vehicle, current volunteer members honor old and former volunteers and display unity during this long-established fire service tradition.

To the left is Pastor William M. McCarty, Newport District Supervisor, formally christened the new medical transport apparatus.

These volunteer crews serve Carrollton and nearby mutual aid districts as the community’s First-Response fire and rescue agency.

Carrollton Station 10 received its Commonwealth EMT certification in 1995 and began emergency transport service in 2002 with the ambulance this new vehicle now replaces.

The on-board equipment for this vehicle was purchased primarily through donations from the local community obtained during fundraising events.
