Lady Dukes defeat Greensville 11-0

The Lady Dukes defeated Tri-Rivers District opponent Greensville 11-0 at home on Thursday afternoon. Senior E.J. Bankson and junior Edythe Carr combined to pitch the shutout for the Lady Dukes.

The Lady Dukes got on the board early when junior Cameron Pagan hit a solo home run over the left field fence, for her second home run of the season. The Lady Dukes secured the victory thanks to 7 runs in the second inning. Cameron Pagan and Torri Queen hit singles in the inning, while Alyssa Funai and Edythe Carr added doubles, and E.J. Bankson hit a triple.

The Lady Dukes’ offense collected 17 hits on the day. Cameron Pagan and E.J. Bankson led the way with three hits, while Whitley Hughes, Torri Queen and Alyssa Funai each had two hits. Sydney Carter, Edythe Carr, Austin Gore, Olivia Holmes, Stevie Fitchett and Jackie Opauski also had a hit against the Lady Eagles.

With the win the Lady Dukes improved to 9-3-1 on the season.

Next week, the Lady Dukes will travel to Franklin on Tuesday, host Surry on Thursday and travel to Mathews on Friday.
