SMITHFIELD

American Legion Post 49 of Smithfield Virginia and its auxiliary is inviting all Vietnam-era veterans (those who served anywhere in any service from 1964-1975) to a Welcome Home Luncheon on Sunday March 25,, in recognition of National Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Day.

All eligible veterans are invited to the Post at 818 S. Church St., Smithfield for a 2 p.m. luncheon, an opportunity for comradeship and a special presentation.

The Post will dedicate a photograph of the Vietnam War Memorial to be hung at the post.

Gus Wulfberg, a post member, published author and Navy Veteran with Vietnam in-country service, will be the master of ceremony and guest speaker.

The Auxiliary will provide a meal of pork loin with all the fixings.

No individual invitations are required, all are welcome. Local Legionnaires and members of the public who wish to join us in “welcoming home” and recognizing these veterans are encouraged to attend.

The post would appreciate an RSVP from anyone interested in attending; to help us estimate a headcount, send an email to Pat Connolly, pastthoughts@hotmail.com.
