Isle of Wight Academy stayed close to Atlantic Shores for a quarter, but ultimately fell to the Seahawks 82-45 during an away game in Chesapeake last Friday night.

The Chargers were attempting to re-create the magic of the week before, when they lost to Shores by 3, 65-62, at Jester Gymnasium. Instead, they fell behind in the second quarter, which they lost to Shores 23-9, and could not recover.

Brandon Casey led the Chargers with 17 points, including three 3-pointers. Grant Worthy, the conference’s fourth-leading scorer, kicked in 10 points.

Shores was led by Chase Larmon’s 21 points and P.J. Roach’s 15.

The loss ended a three-game winning streak and dropped IWA to a 6-13 record, including 4-8 in the Metro Athletic Conference. The Seahawks jumped to 11-18, 7-5 in the Metro, in fifth place ahead of sixth-place IWA.

Thursday, the Chargers wasted no time in claiming a lead against Denbigh Baptist Christian, outscoring the Minutemen 33-11 in the first half on their way to a 65-19 win.

IWA scored 22 points in the third quarter, including 10 by Casey, who finished with19 points for his team. Josh Savage had 11 points for the Chargers.

Denbigh’s Daniel Marshall was the only scorer on his team in double figures with 10 points.

Tuesday, IWA broke open a tense affair with StoneBridge in the second half, outscoring the Cavaliers 40-25 in the final two quarters on their way to a 65-48 win.

Worthy had 19 points for IWA; Casey had 16 in his return to the lineup after a foot injury.

StoneBridge’s Noah Fesl had 20 points to lead all scorers. Thomas Bentley, the conference’s third-leading scorer with 17.4 points per game, had 16 in this contest.

The Chargers have a busy week in store. They traveled to Kenston Forest on Monday and hosted Williamsburg Christian on Tuesday, Broadwater on Thursday and Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot on Friday. All games begin at 7 p.m.
