SMITHFIELD

At its monthly membership meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 6, the Smithfield American Legion Post 49 will honor local first responders. The award ceremony will recognize five law enforcement officers, one emergency medical technician and four firefighters.

Agencies represented by these awardees include: State, Windsor and Smithfield police departments; Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office; Carrollton, Rushmere, Smithfield and Isle of Wight volunteer fire departments, and the Isle of Wight Rescue Squad.

Legionnaires and members of the Legion Auxiliary are encouraged to attend; dinner will be served at 6 p.m., and ceremony starts at 7 p.m., in the Legion Post at 818 S. Church St.
