WINDSOR
Two Windsor High School seniors signed letters of intent to play softball at the collegiate level on Monday in a joint signing ceremony held at 10:45 a.m. in the school’s new collaboration space.

The first to sign was Alyssa Funai, who currently plays short stop and third base for the Lady Dukes. She will attend and play softball for Roanoke College.

“The atmosphere was terrific, the campus is beautiful,” Funai said as to what led her to choose Roanoke. “It just felt like home.”

Funai has played softball for 14 years and has played on Windsor’s varsity team for all four years of high school. She plans to major in health and physical education at Roanoke.

The second to sign was Sydney Carter, who currently plays outfield and catcher for the Lady Dukes. She will attend and play softball for Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia.

She has played softball for 13 years and, like Funai, has been on Windsor’s varsity team all four years of high school. She plans to major in physical therapy.
