Leadership class chosen for 2018

SMITHFIELD
The Student Leadership Institute Class of 2018 kicked off its first session on Sept. 26 in Smithfield Foods’ corporate offices. Our thanks to all the parents, elected officials and school officials who came to lend their support and learn more about the program.

Seventeen juniors from Windsor High, Smithfield High, Nansemond Suffolk Academy, Isle of Wight Academy and one homeschooled student are participating in monthly leadership development sessions. Thanks to program chair Martha Russ, and facilitators Judy Winslow and Renee Rountree. It is presented by the chamber with support from Smithfield Foods, Sentara Healthcare and the Town of Smithfield.
